Does anyone have a source for the length of tracks in the Deluxe edition of the album?

[edit]

Tried to find one for "Helen of Troy" and "Hold No Grudge" but couldn't, even though they're listed at 5:47 and 10:03 minutes here respectively. REEC1394 (talk) 20:48, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@REEC1394: I can't find a source either. I'll remove the information. Thanks! D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 23:02, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Prod. column

[edit]

@LivelyRatification: Prod column is still needed although there are repeated items. Only notes look strange :( -- BrandNew Jim Zhang (talk) 04:20, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't really mind either way - we have no writer's column for Melodrama (Lorde album), through granted, there's only two songs with variations, whereas this has four. --LivelyRatification (talk) 04:23, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 20 August 2021

[edit]

Under “critical reception,” please add: In a positive review for Paste Magazine, Matt Mitchell wrote “There isn’t a running theme of despair like there was on Melodrama, but there doesn’t need to be. The elegance of Solar Power is in its warmth, how you can put it on and not pay much attention to its details, and still catch yourself hitting replay.”

 Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. The quote is too long, and the section is already well developed. Is there any particular reason we need more quotes from critics in an already five paragraph long section with almost 600 words? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:31, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Songwriting credits

[edit]

Please check ASCAP Repertory or APRA AMCOS search for song-writing credits before editing. This takes a few seconds to check. e.g. for "Hold no Grudge" we can use:
https://www.apraamcos.co.nz/search?works=true&title=Hold%20no%20Grudge&writer=&performer=Lorde
--Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 12:32, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This ASCAP Repertory search might also be useful to find the songs where James Ryan Ho (Malay), is listed as a writer on songs where Lorde is listed as a performer. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 06:44, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

[edit]

@De88:

  • EARWIG shows 25.4% - violations unlikely.
  • According to link-dispenser,
    • There are 5 refs that could be down and don't have an archive link.
    • 100+ refs in this article need archive links.
  • Are refs 51, 58, 60, 82, 91, 95, 109 and 112 reliable?
  • Could use the {{album chart}} template for Year-end charts as well.

Vestrian24Bio 11:38, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sections should be split / merged / re-ordered as following,
== Background ==
== Writing ==
== Production and recording ==
== Artwork ==
== Composition ==
=== Music ===
=== Lyrics ===
=== Songs ===
== Release and promotion ==
=== Music box release ===
=== ''Te Ao Mārama'' ===
=== Solar Power tour ===
== Commercial performance ==
== Critical reception ==
=== Year-end rankings ===
== Track listing ==
== Personnel ==
== Charts ==
=== Weekly charts ===
=== Year-end charts ===
== Certifications and sales ==
== Release history ==
== References ==
== External links ==
  • First two paragraphs of "Background and recording" should remain in the "Background" section.
  • First three paragraphs of "Writing and production" should remain in the "Writing" section.
  • 3rd paragraph of "Background and recording" and 4th paragraph of "Writing and production" together would make up the "Production and recording" section.
  • Cicadas image in the the "Production and recording" section should be aligned left.
  • First two paragraphs of "Music and lyrics" should remain in the "Music" sub-section.
  • Could add images of Marlon Williams and Lawrence Arabia as well to the "Music" section.
  • 3rd paragraph of "Music and lyrics" would be in the "Lyrics" sub-section.
  • The "Songs" section should be a sub-section and together with "Music" and "Lyrics", it will make up the "Composition" section.

(I will add a bit more here) Vestrian24Bio 13:22, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • No need for citations on image captions, as the stuffs in caption should also be present in a adjacent paragraph with citations placed there.
  • Instead of "Tracks 1–6" and "Tracks 7–12", the sub-sections should be named as "First half" and "Second half".
  • Martha's Vineyard image in the the "Fist half" section should be aligned left.
  • "Lack of CD release" sub-section should be converted into " Music box release" sub-section.
  • "Te Ao Mārama" should be a sub-section in the "Release and promotion" section.
  • The "Te Ao Mārama" section needs more sources.
  • A separate sub-section for "Solar Power tour" should be added including informations such as range of dates, financial and commercial success, other bands on the tour, stage set-up (lights, props, backdrop, etc.) and notable on-stage guest appearances with a {{Main}} hatnote link to Solar Power Tour.
  • Primavera Sound of São Paulo performance image should be in the touring section.
  • A suitable image should be added to the "Release and promotion" section, aligned to the left.
  • "Commercial performance" should be placed above "Critical reception" section.
  • "Year-end rankings" should have its own sub-section with a prose inside the "Critical reception" section.

  • Specify a language variant.
  • {{EngvarB}} is deprecated, remove it.
  • There is one or more unfit URL in CS1 sources, fix them.
  • Should add texts about recording studios in the "Production and recording" section.
  • Box set cover should be a header text and no need to link Box set in the infobox, and no need for the note as it would / should be explained in the article later.
  • Lead should be a summary of what's on the article;
    • "Inspired by the death of her retriever mix dog Pearl" - article only says about delay, - possible OR.
    • "weed album" is nowhere else to be seen.
    • soft rock is also mentioned in the article, but not in the infobox; lead only says two of the five listed genres.
    • "really confounding", and "painful" - nowhere in the article, no need for a source in the lead, if its in the article.
  • Should include "number one on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums chart" in the lead as well.
  • "benefit concert for victims of the Christchurch mosque shootings" - unsourced.
  • Most of the second paragraph in the "Background" section, depends entirely on a single source, add more sources or cut down on it.
  • "In March 2020, Australian radio station Triple J revealed the ranking spot of her 2013 song "Royals" on their Hottest 100 of the Decade contest." - how is this even relevant here??
  • 'Reverb' should be italicized.
  • Part of the second paragraph in the "Writing" section, depends entirely on a single source, add more sources or cut down on it. Same on the third paragraph.
  • Stephen Colbert show - source?
  • Most of the second paragraph in the "Artwork" section, depends entirely on a single source, add more sources or cut down on it.
  • "Lorde employed a higher vocal range on Solar Power, a departure from the lower vocal register heard in her previous records" - source?
  • "The singer opted for guest vocalists to compliment her multitrack vocals on several tracks on the album, which she had previously avoided doing in her music" - source?
  • "Unlike Melodrama, which sought production from multiple producers, Lorde recruited only two producers to assist her with the production of the album: Antonoff and Malay. The three worked remotely in between sessions in New Zealand and the United States" - source?
  • "only one 808 was employed" - source?
  • "minimalist approach was compared to her earlier works" - source?
  • 'nonfiction' should be 'non-fiction'.
  • "Lorde credits her dog Pearl and the 1974 nonfiction narrative book Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by American author Annie Dillard for her interest in reconnecting with nature. The book How to Do Nothing influenced the singer to detach from social media" - source?
  • "Lorde states that Donald Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Agreement,[47] German activist Greta Thunberg's advocacy for climate action,[47] and the recurring California wildfires[47] also informed the record's climate crisis themes" - this sentence is out of context and doesn't make sense.
  • Check the author's name on ref 49.

Vestrian24Bio 13:22, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • ""Secrets from a Girl (Who's Seen It All)" was written as self-advice to a past version of oneself. Lorde considers the track to be a response to her 2013 song "Ribs", with the former reversing the primary chords of the latter's verses and the lyrics containing future wisdom wrought from lived experience" - more sources needed...
  • "Solar Power's B-side drops significantly in tempo, starting with "The Man with the Axe", a ballad that Lorde initially conceived as a poem" - source?
  • Also, should mention which songs are in which side somewhere in the article.
  • Nothing about "Leader of a New Regime" in the songs section..? And what about the bonus tracks??
  • " Instagram Stories post" should be just " Instagram story".
  • Is the title track leak noteworthy per WP:ALBUMLEAK?
  • Why "Stoned at the Nail Salon" and "Mood Ring" aren't linked in the Release and promotion section?
  • " In addition, a download card was included for those seeking a physical manifestation of the album in addition to the digital release." - source?
  • Optical disc packaging is linked twice in the same sub-section.
  • Is that all the ratings, aren't there ratings from Blender, Cuepoint, MSN Music, The Daily Telegraph, The Line of Best Fit*, The Observer, Q, Slant Magazine*, USA Today, Los Angeles Times*, Spin* etc.?
  • Link LA Times in ref 42.
  • Link Rolling Stone in ref 95.
  • Link Variety" in ref 40.
  • Add author info to ref 45.
  • Link Paste in ref 46.
  • Author link Alexis Petridis in ref 37.
  • Link Consequence in ref 43.
  • Link The Sydney Morning Herald in ref 100.
  • Link Stereogum in ref 34.
  • Is that all the year-end rankings, or are they cherry-picked..?
  • Link The Atlantic in ref 102.
  • Link Exclaim! in ref 104.
  • Link Insider in ref 105.
  • Link Brooklyn Vegan in ref 106.
  • Link NME in ref 107. Check author name.
  • Link The Times in ref 108.
  • Instead of "week dated 30 July 2021 to 5 August 2021" say "week of 30 July to 5 August 2021".
  • No need for "with 56,000 album-equivalent units moved, consisting of 34,000 album sales, and 22,000 units calculated from the 28.38 million on-demand streams the album earned".
  • "Hits criticised Billboard for not counting" - source?
  • "According to Billboard's long-standing rule, a box set must contain a physical copy of the album" - irrelevantly placed, out of context and possible WP:OR.
  • "stayed on the chart for six weeks" - source?
