Love and Deepspace (Chinese: 恋与深空; pinyin: Liàn yǔ Shēn kōng) is a 2024 Chinese Otome game. It was developed and published by Papergames (with publishing outside mainland China under Infold Games), which released for Android and iOS on 18 January 2024. It is known as the first 3D Otome game.
Gameplay
[edit]Love and Deepspace is the first 3D Otome game.[2] It follows a free-to-play pattern while monetarized by gacha and in-game purchase such as gift packs, monthly cards and characters' costumes.[3]
Development and release
[edit]Love and Deepspace was developed by Papergames, a Chinese video game company. It was globally released for Android and iOS on 18 January 2024. It is the second installment in the Mr.Love series.[4]
Music
[edit]The theme song Love and Deepspace, which inspires the game's title, is sung by Sarah Brightman. Brightman describes the song as "exud[ing] a mysterious and ethereal ambience ... tinged with a little bit of melancholy."[1]
Reception
[edit]Love and Deepspace has gained wide popularity worldwide since its global launch on 18 January 2024. By October 2024, its download numbers reached 14 million and it had generated revenues of $196 million.[5] In Japan, it was the most downloaded and highest-grossing interactive story game from January to September 2024, amassing nearly $30 million.[6] As of January 2025, the game has an accumulated global revenue of $400 million, with markets outside of China accounting for 36% of the total revenue, based on data from analytics firm Sensor Tower.[7] Studies attribute the success in revenue to the She Economy, as the game caters to women's need and desire for equality, respect and independence.[3][8]
