Plot

Sai Joshi is a young and outspoken girl, residing in Gadchiroli with her father, Inspector Kamal Joshi, who harbors ambitions of pursuing a medical career at Nagpur Medical College and her foster aunt, Usha.

In Nagpur, Virat Chavan becomes an officer and is posted at Gadchiroli. The local politician's son and goon, Jagtap, falls into a one-sided love with Sai and harasses her. Jagtap tries to kill Kamal to marry Sai. On topping the 12th exam in Maharashtra state, Sai requests Kamal to take retirement and move to Nagpur. Virat joins his posting in Gadchiroli.

Virat's car splashes mud on Sai which makes Sai dislike him. Further, Virat asks Kamal to postpone his VRS on stage. Kamal accepts Virat's order which makes Sai angry.

Virat and Patralekha become infatuated with each other, but the Chavan family selects Patralekha as Samrat (Virat's first cousin)'s bride. To stay close to Virat, Patralekha marries Samrat, and Virat promises Patralekha not to replace her with any other girl. Patralekha confesses her love to Virat, which Samrat overhears, leading him to leave for duty, heartbroken.

Kamal takes the bullet to save Virat from Jagtap's shot which Sai witnesses. On his deathbed, Kamal asks Virat to take care of Sai. Sai then attempts suicide. After Kamal's funeral, villagers pressure Virat to marry an orphaned Sai but Sai urges Virat to honor his feelings for Patralekha. Virat proposes a reluctant compromise marriage to Sai and unwillingly, Sai agrees to it. During the marriage, Virat reminds Sai to not expect any husbandly love and support from him as he already made a promise to Patrakekha. Sai also makes it clear that she will leave their marriage once she completes her MBBS.

Patralekha is upset by Virat and Sai's marriage, but Virat assures her by disclosing the marriage's details. The Chavan family, except for a few of the members and Virat's mother Ashwini, refuses to accept Virat and Sai's marriage as Sai is not from an upper class like Patralekha. The Chavan family humiliates Sai by name-calling, defaming Kamal's death and his upbringing. Virat faces false accusations by Vithal Mane (Jagtap's father) and is suspended from his job. Virat blames Sai for it. He also blames Sai for snatching away his love Patralekha and claims she ruined his life. Sai goes to the police department and saves Virat's job.

Sai learns of Devyani (Virat's first cousin) and Pulkit (Sai's professor)'s past relationship and seeks to learn more about it. Virat stops Sai from talking to Pulkit, but she meets Pulkit again.

When Sai returns, Virat does not agree to give Sai food. Later Ashwini talks to Virat and makes him realise his mistake.

Sai then decides to leave Chavan's house, but Virat apologizes and stops her.

Sai exposes Chavan's act of making Devyani mentally ill and Devyani-Pulkit's separation. Sai plans to reunite Devyani and Pulkit by getting them remarried. Patralekha writes a fake letter to stop Sai. Virat believes in the letter, but Sai refuses to believe it. She asks Virat to investigate the same.

Virat promises her to find out the truth, but after his emergency operation, he asks Sai to not quit until he doesn't come back. Pulkit is kidnapped by a goon hired by the Chavan family. Sai gets Devyani and Pulkit married secretly but Virat finds out so he creates a scene at the wedding venue. Sai and Pulkit show proof to prove Pulkit's innocence, but Virat refuses to believe it and goes away. Sai gets Pulkit and Devyani married. Virat expels Sai from the house at midnight and stops Ashwini from giving food to Sai. Patralekha and Virat call Sai a gold digger and mentally challenged. Sai arranges for evidence and presents it to Virat. Then, Sai returns to Gadchiroli.

Virat is shot while on a mission. Sai rushes to the hospital to care for Virat and they reconcile.

On Harini (Pulkit and Devyani's daughter)'s birthday, Sai mends Devyani and Harini's relationship and asks the Chavan family to accept Harini. Meanwhile, Patralekha confesses her feelings again.

Patralekha and the Chavan family humiliate Sai and ask Sai to apologize to Patrakekha. Sai has an emotional breakdown due to constant bullying and harassment and agrees with their claim of calling herself incompetent and unfit to be in the Chavan family. Ninad (Virat's father)'s childhood dream is realized when Sai surprises him with a harmonium, which Sai bought with her scholarship money. Ninad is speechless and accepts Sai. Pakhi traps Ajinkya (Sai's friend) to meet an unwell Sai in her bedroom and the Chavan family sees Patralekha's action but remains mute. Virat is angered and harms Ajinkya physically and questions Sai's character. Sai feels hurt and leaves the house but is hit a by car. Virat apologizes to Sai by crying in front of Kamal's photo and she forgives him.

Virat plans a trip to Mahabaleshwar (the place where Virat and Patralekha met) to celebrate his and Sai's marriage anniversary. But he lies to Sai and the Chavan family that this trip is an official one. The Chavan family sympathizes with Patralekha. Virat narrates a fake love story to Sai, but the Yoga instructor interrupts them and speaks about Virat-Patralekha's love story. Sai becomes agitated as she thinks Virat was telling Patralekha and his love story which could not be completed due to her.

They argue over their anniversary celebration and Sai leaves. Virat is hurt by Sai's behaviour and seeks vengeance.

Sai meets Samrat in the hospital while helping an injured child (who is also named Virat), who belongs to Samrat's NGO. Sai convinces Samrat to return home and Samrat agrees. Samrat reveals that Patralekha never wanted to marry him and asks for a divorce from Patralekha. Patralekha confesses her love to Virat again and asks him to divorce Sai.

Virat compares Samrat and himself with Lord Rama and Lakshman and falsely claims that Patralekha is innocent and meets him to discuss Samrat. Samrat believes Virat and drops the divorce proceedings. Patralekha hosts a pooja and invites the whole family but Sai refuses to attend as she knows Patralekha is just pretending to be with Samrat. Virat instructs Sai to attend the pooja instead of going to college. Sai becomes adamant. Virat locks Sai in the room to prevent her from attending college. Sai leaves the house through the water pipes beside the window, then has an accident and is hospitalized. She later returns home. Sai and Virat restart their relationship as friends, but Patralekha loves him too. On Diwali, Sai realizes that she has feelings for Virat. Sai decides to confess her feelings to Virat but he is ordered to go for a secret operation in the Naxalite area and departs.

Virat and Shruti (wife of the Naxalite who is not aware of her husband's connection to the Naxalite) flee from the jungle after Virat shoots a bullet at his best friend Naxalite Sada. Virat introduces Shruti as his wife in a hotel to protect her from the police and Mohit (Virat's first cousin) catches them. Police inform Virat that Sada's dead body is missing but Virat ignores it. Mohit reveals to the family that Virat was with Shruti in a hotel room as Mr. and Mrs. Chavan. This upsets Sai, and she pleads that the matter is clarified, but Virat ignores her. Virat spends much time with Shruti because she is pregnant and she should not be introduced directly to anyone.

Virat unwillingly ignores Sai for Shruti, because only Virat knows Shruti is innocent, but he does not have any proof. So, if he didn't hide Shruti in a hotel room and introduce her as his wife, then there is a possibility that Shruti may get arrested, and he doesn't want any innocent person to go to jail. So, he decided to hide Shruti and the truth from his family to save them, until he didn't find any proof which proves Shruti was innocent. When Virat signs Sahas (Sada and Shruti's son)'s birth certificate as his father, Sai feels heartbroken. The Chavan family witnesses Virat caring for Shruti and sees Sahas as the son of Virat on his birth eertificate, and they disown him. The family asks Virat to leave the house. Virat and Shruti start to live in a separate house. Soon Shruti falls for Virat by his caring behaviors and also expresses her feelings to Virat, but Virat informs her that he only loves Sai, and will never love any other lady except Sai. Soon police find out about Virat and Shruti.

The police department suspends Virat for bigamy.

To save Virat's job and reputation, Sai asks for a divorce and submits backdated divorce papers to the police department.

So, they ask him to rejoin duty. Sada is still alive and learns of Shruti's affair with Virat, so he kidnaps Sai and asks Shruti to return. Virat is injured in a landmine blast while rescuing Sai and the police arrest Shruti and Sada for their crimes.

Sai arranges a life-saving injection for Virat, and he regains consciousness. But he blames Sai for his condition and requests that the police release Shruti from all charges.

Sai returns to Chavan Niwas during Holi. The Chavan family supports Patralekha when she suggests throwing Sai into the Holi fire to be rid of her. On Holi, Sai brings Virat to the Holi function. The next day, Sai reads a letter from Shivani (Ninad's sister)'s ex-fiancé Rajeev. He tells Sai about feeling guilty after leaving Shivani and tells her that he only loved Shivani. Virat sees him and imprisons him. Sai informs Shivani that Rajeev feels guilty after leaving her and wants to patch up. The two women visit Rajeev in jail and Shivani forgives Rajeev. On Ram Navami, the family attends a function near the temple, but there is a fire there. Rajeev risks his own life to save Shivani. Impressed, the family arranges Rajeev and Shivani's wedding.

Sai finishes her last exam and Virat breaks all ties with her. On Rajeev and Shivani's music ceremony, Rajeev has a heart attack, but Sai saves him. Sai encourages Virat to forgive his family and he does.

Later, Sai and Virat confess their love to each other before the entire family and guests. The family, except Pakhi, Bhavani (Ninad's elder brother's wife), Sonali (Ninad's younger brother's wife) and Omkar(Ninad's younger brother) is happy. Later they announce that Rajeev-Shivani and Virat-Sai will be married simultaneously. Bhavani stops Sai and Virat during the pheras and tells Sai to either leave the house and become a doctor or leave the dream of becoming a doctor and become the daughter-in-law of the house. Virat chooses the second option for Sai and they get married.

Later he informs Sai that he lied to Bhavani about their future and encourages Sai to continue her internship, hiding from the family.

The family realizes Virat's lie and the family's males support Sai. Soon Sai is revealed to be pregnant while Patralekha falls for Samrat. However, Jagtap kidnaps Sai and in his attempt to save her, Samrat is run over by Jagtap leading to his death. Patralekha blames Sai for the same and curses her due to which she suffers a miscarriage and becomes incapable of conceiving. Sai and Virat hire a woman named Geeta to carry their child by becoming his surrogate mother but Patralekha manipulates Geeta and becomes the surrogate mother of the baby to get close to Virat. She blackmails Sai by traveling to Mahabaleshwar during her pregnancy time without informing anyone and standing on the peak of the mountain and started blackmailing she will kill herself if Sai doesn't promise to her that she would not come close to her and only Virat will take care of her during the whole pregnancy. She also threatens Sai that if she informs the same to others she will refuse to accept. Sai decides to keep quiet until delivery as she doesn't want chaos in the family, and she is more concerned about her unborn baby's health.

Soon Patralekha feels labor pain , and at that moment no one is home, and Nagpur is having disastrous rain.

Somehow Virat reaches home and does delivery on the instructions of Sai who Virat video-called. The family members ask Sai to let them bail out Patralekha, but she refuses and threatens to leave the house along with Vinayak if they bail out Patralekha and bring her back. Savi has grown up to become an aggressive, blunt, confident, and headstrong, yet good-hearted and honorable woman, and is the most popular student in her college and wants to become an IAS officer while Vinayak is studying to become a doctor by pursuing an MBBS degree in Pune. Bhavani decides to get Savi's marriagedone as soon as possible.

The Chavans are now not well-off as Bhavani has sold off the Chavan mansion to fund Vinayak's college education and has now relocated to Ramtek.

Ninad is afflicted with Alzheimer, and the Chavans keep him away from the fact that Sai and Virat are no longer alive.

Bhavani had also gotten her granddaughter, Harini married to a man, named Kiran. Unbeknownst to Bhavani, Kiran is abusive towards Harini and lacks respect towards any women in general. Omkar, Sonali, Mohan and Karishma now live with Sonali's parents.

Meanwhile in Pune, a bond of mutual admiration forms between the managing director of Bhosale Institute of Excellence, Dr. Ishaan Bhosale, and his student, Reeva Marathe who were childhood friends. Ishaan suffers from a traumatic past as his mother, Isha left him while he was young to take care of her ailing parents. Ishaan misunderstands the situation and thinks that she has left him to advance in her career, due to the lies told to him by his aunt, Surekha, and his uncle, Yashwant which has made Ishaan hostile towards her.

Isha is also Savi's mentor and mother figure who motivates her to take part in the debate competition held in Nagpur to get a scholarship from Bhosale Institute of Excellence, which will bring her a step closer to becoming an IAS.

Savi wins the scholarship, but much to her dismay, Bhavani has already arranged a marriage for her. Bhavani disregards her career ambitions and asks her to marry Samruddh Latkar.

Seeing Ishaan and Reeva's growing closeness, Yashwant proposes their marriage to Reeva's father Swanand and he agrees, but Reeva's mother, Swati is apprehensive of this relationship. On the engagement day, Swati blackmails Reeva that she will kill herself if Reeva doesn't go to London for her further studies as she fears that she will not be able to progress in her career once she gets married.

Reeva agrees to do so and Ishaan, unable to heal from his mother, Isha's apparent betrayal, breaks off his engagement with Reeva.

An apprehensive Savi informs Isha about her forced marriage. Sensing trouble, Isha seeks to learn about Samruddh. In a shocking disclosure, it is revealed that Samruddh is a drunkard, drug addiet, and womanizer, as well as the fact that he has been arrested twice for harassing women well in an intoxicated state and is having an affair with a married woman and that his father, Mandar is a don in Ramtek. Isha informs Savi about this. Upon learning the truth, Savi informs Ashwini, Ninad, and Harini (who lives with them since Kiran harassed her). They ask Savi to run away from the marriage. Savi flees the marriage to Pune with the help of Isha, hoping to be admitted to the Bhosale Institute.

Bhavani arrogantly disowns Savi, disregarding the reason why she had run away from the wedding in the first place, after she discovers that Isha, Ninad, Ashwini and Harini helped her run away. Ashwini, Ninad and Isha all put Bhavani in her place, coldly stating that the reason why Savi never presented the evidence, regarding Samruddh's disgusting nature to her, is because she knows full-well that Bhavani would have just ignored the evidence, as she only cares about her false reputation and controlling everything, as well as the society's opinion.

After facing much, Savi is admitted to the Bhosale Institute with Isha's help. Savi faces many problems in the college as she is bullied by Dhurva (Ishaan's first cousin) and her gang, and receives no support from Ishaan. Savi is also almost molested by Kiran. Savi is accused of misbehavior, cheating, and ruining events in college to get ousted. Ishan misunderstands her and repeatedly insults her. He even judges her character for running away from her wedding and her family.

Savi decides to return to Ramtek as she has nowhere to live. She receives support from Shantanu (Ishaan's father) and Isha, and they also try to convince Ishaan to trust her. Later, Savi exposes Kiran to Ishaan and proves herself innocent of all the accusations. Ishaan realizes his mistakes and asks Savi for forgiveness.

He stops her from returning to Ramtek and gives her a room in the hostel. Savi tells her entire story and her dream of becoming an IAS and Ishaan supports her in this dream and becomes her mentor. Harini is pregnant but miscarries due to Kiran's violence.

Savi, aided by ACP Bajirao, Shantanu's old student, has Kiran arrested. Mandar and Samruddh escape and come to Bhosale's house in Pune under the name of Mr. Patil and Sam Patil for a marriage proposal for Dhurva, aiming to settle their debts. Savi exposes their true identities during Dhurva's engagement, initially facing disbelief from everyone but Ishaan. She ultimately gets Mandar to confess his crimes, and ACP Bajirao arrests them. Everyone is grateful to Savi for saving Dhurva's life, but Dhurva refuses to believe Savi and is crazy for Samruddh. Nishikant (Dhurva's father), Asmita (Dhurva's mother) and Yashwant blame Surekha for not doing a proper background check and for nearly ruining Dhurva's life. Surekha collaborates with Dhurva to get revenge on Isha and Savi.

Reeva returns, expressing her feelings to Ishaan, who harshly rejects her. Harini tells Savi about Ninad's deteriorating health. Bhavani and Vinayak bring Ninad to Pune for his treatment. Meanwhile, Reeva applies for a job as an Assistant Professor at Bhosale Institute but is denied entry to the college. Isha arrives as an interview panel member from the Education Board. With the help of Savi, Reeva enters the college and Ishaan becomes irritated after seeing her and tells her to leave but Isha, unaware of Ishaan and Reeva's past relationship allows her to give the interview. After the interview, Shantanu informs Isha about Reeva and Ishaan's past, making Isha feel guilty and cautioning Reeva not to hurt Ishaan.

Later, Reeva gets the job and Savi and Reeva become very good friends.

A head injury gives Ninad temporary memory loss. With the help of Ishaan, Ninad recovers his memory. Ishaan learns about Ninad from Savi and tells the doctor to do the surgery for free. The surgery is successful and Savi thanks Ishaan. Bhavani apologizes to Savi for her actions and supports her dreams.

On Isha's birthday, Savi discovers her backstory and decides to depict it in a college play, with herself as Isha and Reeva as Surekha. During the play, It is revealed that when Ishaan was six years old, Isha's brother died in an accident and Isha decided to move into her parents' house along with Ishaan and Shantanu but Surekha and Yashwant were against this. Shantanu refused to come with her and Surekha was against Isha for taking Ishaan along with her. When she was leaving, Surekha ordered Isha to leave the house without Ishaan. Isha requested Surekha and Yashwant but was helpless without getting support from Shantanu and left the house and ever since Ishaan has hated her to the core. After the play,

Ishaan, Reeva, and the rest learn that the play was based on Ishaan's childhood and they get furious with Savi and Surekha slaps her. The whole family faces the media trial, but Ishaan faces it and accepts Surekha as his mother.

Despite Shantanu confirming that Isha's departure was, due to Surekha and Yashwant to be true, Ishaan remains angry and hostile towards both Isha and Savi, when in fact, he should be angry towards Surekha and Yashwant, not only for their misdeeds, but also for ruining his life and for separating him from his mother. Savi criticizes Ishaan for his behavior, reminding him that he is Isha's son and that his anger towards his mother is unjustified. After learning the truth, Ishaan knows that he can no longer be angry with Isha.

Bhavani learns the truth about Samruddh and why Savi ran away from marriage. Bhavani asks for forgiveness and decides to honor her in Ramtek.

Meanwhile, Mandar and Samruddh are released from jail and decide to ruin Savi's life. Savi takes leave for a few days and returns to Ramtek. Later, Swati reveals the truth to Ishaan about Reeva's departure.

Later, Surekha suffers a heart attack upon witnessing Ishaan publicly acknowledging Isha as his mother. Reeva admits her to the hospital and her life is saved. Ishaan thanks Reeva for saving Surekha. Surekha fixes Reeva and Ishaan's marriage and accepts her. Later, Ishaan confesses his love to Reeva and proposes to her for marriage.

Ishaan finds Ninad on the way to Nagpur and brings him back to Ramtek. Ishaan, Isha, and Shantanu attend Savi's honor function. Isha and Shantanu leave for London and Mandar and Samruddh kidnap the Chavans and torture them in an old paint factory and shoots Ninad in the leg. Samruddh threatens to kill the Chavans if she does not marry him. Ishaan arrives and rescues her family, but Samruddh shoots a bullet into an oil canister, causing an explosion. Savi arrives and is shocked to see the blast and takes her entire family to the hospital. Ishaan survives the blast and also reaches the hospital. The doctor says that everyone has died in the blast. Then, Harini is revealed to be alive. Savi is heartbroken and goes to confront Samruddh for killing her family, and he reveals that Ishaan is to be blamed, but she doesn't hear him. Samruddh inadvertently admits to his crimes in front of the police force who are present there, sealing his and Mandar's fates. Savi and Ishaan admit Harini to a hospital in Pune. Kiran is released and donates blood to Harini to save her. Kiran tells Harini who is in a coma that after she dies, he will marry Savi and fulfill all his desires. Harini regains consciousness and requests Ishaan to marry Savi as her last wish, fearing she won't survive and Savi will be in danger after her death. Ishaan agrees out of guilt. Despite Savi's refusal, Ishaan takes her to a temple and marries her against her will. The priest informs the Bhosales about Ishaan and Savi's marriage, and Ishaan confesses; in an intoxicated state. Ishaan plays a video of their marriage during his and Reeva's engagement ceremony, humiliating both the Bhosale and Marathe families. Angry, Nishikant sends goons to relocate Savi and Harini, but Ishaan intervenes, and Savi is shot while protecting him. Savi's scholarship is canceled, and she starts working in a cafe to pay her college fees. The Bhosales arrange a reception to save their reputation, but on the day, Swati leaks news of Savi's job, spoiling their reputation. Later, Surekha's brother Mukul and his wife Apsara visit for Surekha and Yashwant's 35th wedding anniversary. Anvi (Dhurva's younger sister), who Mukul molested in her childhood, gets anxious and has panic attacks on seeing Mukul. She confides in Savi, who exposes Mukul in front of the family and he is thrown out.

Later, Chinmay (Yashwant and Surekha's son) returns to the house threatening Yashwant to hand over his property which Yashwant's father gave him as a will but Yashwant had seized it from him. He also wants to divorce Shikha (Chinmay's wife). Chinmay was a trained Kathak dancer but Yashwant was against his profession.

Later, Savi convinces him to follow his dream and reunites him with Shikha and the rest of the family.

Harini's condition gets eritical and Ishaan fights against all odds to save her. Seeing this, Savi realizes her love for him and confesses, but Ishaan rejects her. Savi overhears a conversation between Ishaan and Reeva and learns the truth about her family's death. She leaves the Bhosale house after blaming Ishaan for being responsible for her family's death.

The situation is controlled through the clever plans of the Bhosales. Kiran switches sides and gets killed by Bhanwar. Ishaan stops Bhanwar and he is arrested and taken away by the cops.

The hijacking adversity brings about an emotional reunion among the Bhosales, including Isha and Ishaan's reconciliation and Surekha and Isha mending their relationship.

Ishaan confesses his unrequited love for Savi, and Reeva selflessly sacrifices her love for Ishaan, giving Ishaan's hand in marriage to Savi. The Bhosale family reconciles, and Ishaan and Savi prepare to marry.

After Ishaan and Savi's wedding, Bhanwar returns and attempts to shoot everyone. Savi is shot while protecting a pregnant Shikha. Ishaan, while confronting Bhanwar, is shot and stabbed with an iron rod. Bhanwar dies while both Ishaan and Savi are hospitalized. Savi is out of danger, but Ishaan's condition is critical. On his deathbed, Ishaan asks Isha and Shantanu to take care of Savi and help her move on, which Isha promises.

Ishaan bids Savi goodbye and passes away.

7 years later
Savi works as a teacher in Mumbai and becomes famous at her school. She is heartbroken after Ishaan's death and learns that she can never conceive after taking a bullet to save Shikha. As per Ishaan's last wish, Isha and Shantanu stay with Savi and help find marriage alliances for her. Harini marries Milind and has a son, Vansh. It is revealed that Savi was about to marry Milind's brother, Vikram, but he ended the engagement after discovering that Savi could not conceive. Savi meets a young neighbor, Saisha Thakkar, and they become friends.

Isha and Saisha's grandmother, Bhagyashree, do not get along and frequently argue. Saisha's father, Rajat, is a wealthy businessman and divorcee who remains distant from Saisha. Saisha enrolls in Savi's school and becomes her student. Savi hates Rajat as he constantly ignores Saisha and doesn't take care of her. Ishaan's cousin, Mrunmayee comes to Mumbai and stays with Savi. It is later revealed that Rajat's wife Ashika betrayed him soon after Saisha's birth and divorced him for a businessman named Arsh. Due to Rajat being an employee under Arsh and having less money, Ashika took their son Kiaan with her and now is fighting for Saisha's custody battle. Rajat's neglect stems from the reminder of Ashika through Saisha's mole, leading to their strained relationship. Due to Thakkars' negligence, Ashika reopens Saisha's custody case, and Rajat asks Savi to pose as his wife until he wins custody. Mrunmayee criticizes Rajat and Aman for exploiting Savi to achieve their goal. Despite Saisha's desire to stay with Savi, she pursuades her to return to Ashika. Bhagyashree plans a pooja to seek the blessings to get Saisha back. While Rajat fears the arrival of his client Shyam's arrival, Savi goes there with Saisha. Rajat asks Savi to pretend to be his wife at the pooja as he might lose a deal if she doesn't. Isha want to reveal the truth to everyone, but Bhagyashree stops her. Isha confronts Rajat for manipulating and using Savi to his advantage. Meanwhile, Bhagyashree is found unconscious is the storeroom. Rajat accuses Isha of locking Bhagyashree in the storeroom, but Savi defends her. Lucky records Mrunmayee's MMS and leaks it on Social Media and blames Rajat's friend and colleague, Aman for it. Rajat defends Aman and claims he couldn't have leaked Mrunmayee's video. Rajat's father, Rajendra sees how happy Saisha is with Savi and suggests Savi and Rajat's marriage to Shantanu. Meanwhile, Rajat's sister Tara tries to help Bhagyashree get Savi's favour. Rajat helps Aman with bail papers, despite Savi accusing Aman of leaking the video. Meanwhile, Shantanu accepts Savi and Rajat's wedding proposal. Bhagyashree urges Rajat to consider fulfilling Rajendra's wish. Elsewhere, Shantanu confronts Savi and persuades her to meet the boy he has chosen for her. Savi discovers Rajat's attempt to discredit her in front of the judge and she confronts him.

Controversy

In July 2022, a lawsuit against the series makers was filed at IBF by some viewers against the then-ongoing surrogacy track where viewers claimed that Pakhi was shown becoming a surrogate mother through an illegal procedure.[7]

Casting

In May 2023, Aishwarya Sharma Bhatt, who portrayed one of the key characters Patralekha, quit the series "to explore new opportunities" after a period of 2.5 years.[8][9] In May 2023, it was confirmed that the show was taking a generation leap and thus all the cast would be making their exit from the show except Kishori Shahane, Bharati Patil and Shailesh Datar who would remain on the show in a lesser capacity. Their roles ended in the show in January 2024 due to the track revolving around Savi and Ishaan's wedding which resulted in their characters' deaths.[10][11][12] Shakti Arora, Bhavika Sharma & Sumit Singh were finalised to play the lead roles as Ishaan, Savi & Reeva post leap.[13] Sumit Singh's character was initially named Sharvari in pre-production phase, later it being transformed to Reeva.[14]

Sharma, Arora and Singh at Star Parivaar Awards 2023

Shakti Arora also revealed that he was approached initially to play the role of Virat Chavan which he declined due to budget issues.[15] Arora on joining the show said, "I treat every show like it is my debut show; excitement and jitters go hand in hand with every new show I venture in."[16] Bhavika Sharma, on the other hand, said, "I am very excited and grateful, but at the same time nervous because ‘Ghum Hain Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’ already holds a legacy with itself; The show has set a benchmark, and we really hope to reach that height. We have mixed emotions with a touch of nervousness and happiness."[17] In June 2024, after another leap of 7 years, Hitesh Bharadwaj replaced Shakti Arora as the lead actor.[18]

Development

The filming of the series began in September 2020.[19] Mainly filmed in Mumbai, some initial sequences of the series were shot at Nashik.[20]

In March 2021, the filming was halted for a few days when Neil Bhatt and a crew member tested positive for COVID-19 virus, leading to a change in the track.[21]

On 13 April 2021, Chief Minister of Maharashtra announced a curfew from 15 April. On 16 and 17 April, the team shifted filming to Goa for a few weeks until the government issued a confirmation to resume shooting in Mumbai.[22]

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Uddhav Thackeray announced that shooting of all shows must halt within all parts of urban and rural Maharashtra. Hence, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin producers moved to Goa and were permitted by the government to only shoot indoors, inside their bio-bubble.[23] Everything proceeded as planned, but in May 2021 the producers shot a scene at Goa Fort, violating the regulations.[24]

In May 2024 it was rumored that show would take a 10 year leap but then it was announced that it has been cancelled.[25][26][27] In June 2024, it was confirmed that show was indeed taking a leap and that the entire Bhosale family would exit including leads Shakti Arora and Sumit Singh.[28][29]

Filming

A massive fire broke out on the sets of the show located in Goregaon Film City on 10 March 2023[30] around 4:30 pm.[31] It was reported that nearly 2000 people were present when the accident took place. Earlier reported to be fire from a cylinder blast[32][33] later reports claimed that a short circuit happened due to a technical failure in a scheduled fire sequence.[34][35] No casualties were reported however it was reported that whole set has been burnt down to ashes and the fire even reached the neighboring sets of Ajooni and Teri Meri Doriyaann.[36][37][38]

Release

The first promo of the series was released on 12 September 2020 featuring then-leads Ayesha Singh and Neil Bhatt. The promo was released on 1 October 2020 and featured veteran actress Rekha promoting the series.[39] The following promo released before premiere featured Deepika Singh in her character Sandhya Rathi from Diya Aur Baati Hum to promote the series.[40]

On 4 August 2021, Rekha again made an appearance in a teaser to promote the track of Sai and Virat's outdoor trip as well as Samrat's return in the series.[41][42] On 23 June 2023, Rekha again made another appearance to promote the generation leap.[43]
